| alliance | an agreement between people, groups, and nations to work together; friendship/supporters |
| boycott | an organized act of refusing to buy or use something |
| consent | permission or agreement |
| consequence | something that happens as a result of a particular action or set of conditions |
| debt | something, often money, that is owed |
| disputed territory | land that is claimed by multiple groups |
| liberty | freedom, especially freedom from government tyranny |
| neutrality | the state of not supporting either side in a conflict |
| political rights | rights of a citizen to participate in government that are expressed in a constitution or other laws |
| repeal | to cancel a law |
| representation | process of allowing citizens to shape the decisions made by the government through the representatives chosen by them; ability to vote or have an opinion |
| tax | money that you have to pay to the government so that it can pay for public services |
| tyranny | the unfair use of government power |
| revolution | a dramatic and wide-reaching change in the way something is structured in favor of a new system |
