Simple Squamous -Kidney tubules, alveoli of lungs, blood vessels Rapid Diffusion
Simple Cuboidal -Pancreas, salivary glands, kidneys Accommodate endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi for secretion
Simple Columnar -Intestinal wall Rectangular shape, providing more protection than cuboidal. Microvilli help increase surface area for absorption
Pseudo stratified Ciliated Columnar - Respiratory tract: Nasal cavity, tranchea, bronchi Touches the base surface, contain cilia to help move mucus
Stratified Squamous - Outer skin Start off rounded, but are flattened as they are pushed outwards
Transitional - Lining of bladder Rounded and can stretch/flatten
Areolar - Between skin and muscle Binds after tissues together, and its part of the inflammatory response
Adipose - Bottom layer of skin, covering the abdomen and heart Stores energy, absorbs shock, and provides insulation
Reticular - Spleen, Bone marrow, lymph nodes Holding blood cells in place, white and red blood cells storage
Dense Regular - Ligaments, Tendons Provides connection between tissues that resists tension
Blood - Within the blood vessels Transport oxygen and nutrients around the body
Hyaline Cartilage - Respiratory tract, Ends of bones Provides smooth surface and a flexible connection between tissues
Elastic Cartilage - External Ear Repeated bending while maintaining its original shape
Fibrocartilage - Vertebral discs, Pelvic cartilage Highly resistant to compression and stretching
Bone - All over the body Provides structure, support and helps in movement
Skeletal - All skeletal muscle: biceps branchi used for VOLUNTARY movement
Smooth - Stomach, Intestinal wall Used for INVOLUNTARY movement of HALLOW organs
Cardiac - Heart muscle Intercalated discs where the cells attach to each other
Nervous Tissue - Brain and Spinal cord Long branched neurons and smaller neuroglia
