What was the Columbian Exchange, and how did it affect life in Europe and the Americas? Transport of plants, animals, diseases and goods between the new world and the old and visa versa
Where did the Spanish settle in the Americas? Throughout South America, Central and Southern North America, North America and Florida
Where did the French settle in the Americas? In eastern Canada, the Great Lakes Region and throughout the Louisiana territory
Where did the Dutch settle in the Americas? A small settlement in what is present day New York.
Where did the British settle in the Americas? Along the Atlantic coast of North America and Canada
In what ways were the three colonial regions - Northern, Middle and Southern similar and different? South: warm and a long growing season which depended heavily on agriculture and slaves. Middle: took advantage of natural harbors, moderate climate and good soil which grew staple crops. Northern: poor soil, short growing season and depended on fishing.
What was the Great Awakening, and how did it influence colonial politics? A religious movement that brought spiritual revival to the people of different regions, classes and races. I promoted the idea of spiritual and political equality.
What complaints did many colonist have regarding British rule? Harsh trade restrictions, increase of taxes, lack of representation in parliament, Stamp, Tea and Intolerable Act
What important ideas about government are expressed in the Declaration of Independence? Patriots belief in certain basic rights such as life and liberty, a government that does not address its people, King George III violated colonist rights by passing unfair laws.
What contributions did people from other countries make to the Patriots cause during the American Revolution? LaFayette fought in Continental Army used his own money aid the war and urged France to send more aid. Baron Von Stuben used military skill to train Continental Army. Bernado de Galvez gathered a small army and seized British Forts.
