European Themes of Geography

TermDefinition
Judaism the monotheistic religion of the Jews having its spiritual and ethical principles embodied chiefly in the Torah and in the Talmud
Christianity A monotheistic system of beliefs and practices based on the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus as embodied in the New Testament
Islam A religion based on the teachings of the prophet Mohammed which stresses belief in one god and a body of law written in the Quran. Followers are called Muslims.
Cyrillic Alphabet An alphabet for the writing of Slavic languages
Germanic Language Family subgroup of Indo-European language family. German, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, English.
Romance Languages Any of the languages derived from Latin including Italian, Spanish, French, and Romanian.
Slavic Languages Languages that developed as Slavic people migrated from a base in present-day Ukraine close to 2000 years ago.
Roman Alphabet writing system developed by the Romans and commonly used by many Romance and Germanic languages today (e.g., A B C D E F G)
