Why did people in Texas begin raising cattle after the Civil War? They could make more money than farming.
Why did they create cattle trails? They needed to get the cattle to the railroads.
What was the greatest threat to cowboys on cattle drives? running out of water and stampedes
Why did cattle barons stop using cattle trails? People built fences and many cattle got Texas Fever.
What can cause prices to drop? Low demand and high supply
What might make prices go up again? The demand is higher.

Who made the most money during the California gold rush? merchants
Why did President Lincoln want to build a transcontinental railroad? to unite the country after the Civil War
