Arab spring Arab Spring, wave of pro-democracy protests and uprisings that took place in the Middle East and North Africa beginning in 2010 and 2011, challenging some of the region's entrenched authoritarian regimes
Persian gulf war The Persian Gulf War was a military conflict that took place from 1990 to 1991, primarily between Iraq and a United States-led coalition of 35 nations.
Suez canal crisis The Suez Crisis was a major international event in 1956 where Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal, leading to a military intervention by Britain, France, and Israel
war in Iraq The Iraq War (2003-2011) was a military conflict primarily between the United States and a coalition of other countries against the government of Saddam Hussein in Iraq.
6 day war he Six-Day War, also called the June War or the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, was a conflict between Israel and a coalition of Arab states, mainly Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, from June 5th to June 10th, 1967.
Syrian civil war The Syrian Civil War is an ongoing, multi-sided armed conflict in Syria that began in March 2011 as a response to the Syrian Revolution, part of the broader Arab Spring.
Iran hostage crisis a situation in 1979-1981 where 52 American citizens were held hostage after Iranian students stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. The crisis arose in the aftermath of the Iranian Revolution and the U.S. support for the exiled Shah of Iran.
