Self-Identity
| Term | Definition |

| Self-Concept | How someone thinks about or perceives and evaluates themselves |
| Self-Esteem | Respect or regard for oneself, how much value we place on ourselves |
| Ideal-Self | Who we aspire to be, who we want to be |
| Existential Self | Most basic self-concept, sense of being separate and distinct from others |
| Categorical Self | Becoming aware that even though we exist distinct from others, we also exist in the world with others (gender, age, skills) |
| Humanistic Theory | Carl Rogers believed self-concept had 3 different components; image, esteem/worth, and ideal |
| Incongruity | When ideal self does not match the real self |
