TermDefinition
Motherboard. Central to computer, components required for the system are plugged unto the motherboard.
Central Processing Unit. Brains of the computer, controls actions of computer.
Random Access Memory. Temporarily store data, when turned off all data is automatically deleted. Temporary storage - deleted when computer is off.
Read Only Memory. BIOS is chip that contains instructions and commands to tell how to start up. Permanent memory.
Hard drive. Used to permanently store data.
Heat sink. Metal device designed to absorb heat way from the CPU outfitted with built-in fans.
Cooling Fan. Used to draw cooler air into the case from the outside.
Ports. Used to attach external peripherals to computer.
Input.. Peripheral used to put information inside the computer.
Output. Peripheral used to get information form a computer.
