New Nation Vocab

Key words for New Nation unit

TermDefinition
Confederation A set of rules established to guide the United States government. The constitution lays out the branches of government and was made to protect the rights of citizens. It was signed in 1787!
Constitution When a group of states or nations join together to form an alliance. An alliance is a relationship with a common goal.
Ratified When something is approved or made official. This usually relates to the government. For example, when a treaty is agreed upon, it is ratified.
Amendment A change or addition to a law or government-related document.
Bill of Rights The first 10 amendments of the constitution. The Bill of Rights was ratified in 1791.
