Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Tax a fee you must pay to the government.
Representation the action of speaking or acting on behalf of someone
Revolution a fundamental change in how people think about something, change in a society's political system.
petition a formal written request, typically one signed by many people, appealing to authority with respect to a particular cause
Boycott To refuse to buy or use certain goods or services
Repeal officially revoking or withdrawing a law, tax, or other rule
Boston Massacre This event happened when a crowd of protesters threw snowballs and rocks at British soldiers, who then fired into the crowd.
Allegiance the loyalty of a citizen to their government or of a subject to their sovereign.
Declaration A formal announcement
Grievance Complaints
Parliament a legislative body of government
Legislature a group of people who make laws for a country, state, or city
Tariff a tax imposed by the government on goods imported from another country
Treason the act of betraying a country's trust or attempting to overthrow its government.
Ratify To approve a bill, law, or amendment.
Inalienable Rights Rights the government can't take away from you
Proclamation a public or official announcement, especially one dealing with a matter of great importance. Ex. 1763
