What are the key characteristics of the geography and climate of the Pacific Northwest (Alaska to North California)? The Pacific Northwest stretched from southern Alaska to northern California. Eastern side had mountain ranges, west side was mild and moist because of the Pacific Ocean
What are the key characteristics of the geography and climate of the Southern California? The Southern West coast (Southern California) had deserts on the east side with hotter and dry climates. The Pacific Ocean was still to the west with cooler climate.
What are the Lifestyles (homes) of peoples of the Northwest Pacific Coast? People settled in the Pacific Northwest. The houses built were huge (to house up to 50 people). They were squares/rectangles and had a large pit for fire in the center.

What is the social organization of peoples of the Northwest Pacific Coast? (1) The Social Organization of the Pacific Northwest had a specific society where social rank was extremely important. Each family was led by a chief. Chiefs were appointed through a potlatch. (1)
What is the social organization of peoples of the Northwest Pacific Coast? (2) The Pacific Northwest chiefs were at the top of the society. Everyone else's positions had to do with how close their relationship was with the chief. The bottom level was made of slaves. (2)
What is the social organization of peoples of the Northwest Pacific Coast? (3) The Pacific Northwest chiefs had many jobs: determined house group's activities, helped resolve conflicts between people, worked together in councils to make decisions for the community.

What are the religious beliefs of peoples of the Northwest Pacific Coast? (2) Some Pacific Northwest peoples also believed that power and success are gifted to people by spirits. They held rituals and ceremonies are held to honor spirits and ask for help.

What are the religious beliefs of peoples of Southern California? (2) The second system for southern Californian religion was the Kuksu: belief in a few supernatural beings. Priests would dress up to represent these beings in a ritual dance.

What are the similarities of Lifestyles for BOTH the Northwest Pacific Coast and Southern California? (1) Peoples of both areas did not farm. They were all hunters and gatherers.
