| Term | Definition |

| historical context | Describe what came BEFORE the historical development in the document that LED TO it. You are describing a CAUSE of the development. |
| purpose | reason for which something is done, created |
| reliability | trustworthiness of a source- sources can be described as reliable, somewhat reliable, unreliable |
| audience | spectators or listeners at a public event, piece of writing, or speech |
| point of view | author's opinion regarding an event, person, topic |
| cause | person or event that gives rise to an action, phenomenon, or condition, what leads up to another event |
| effect | change which is a result or consequence of an action or other cause |
| smiliarity | how people or events are alike, the same, what they have in common |
| difference | how people or events are unalike, how they vary |
| geographic context | where a historical event took place and why it took place there, how does the location affect the development |
| turning point | major event, idea, or historical development that brings about significant change. It can be local, regional, national, or global. |
