Mid Term Review

poet a person who writes a poem
rhyme repetition of a sound in two or more words or phrases
uses of rhyme: 1. to create a musical quality, 2. emphasize certain words and ideas
exact rhyme the sounds of the words are exactly alike, except for the consonant sounds at the beginning
half rhyme the sounds of the words are similar but not identical
end rhyme rhyming words at the end of the lines of poetry
internal rhyme rhyming words within the lines of poetry
stanza a group of lines in a poem considered as a unit
