| Blacklist | To put a person on a list with people viewed with suspicion or disapproval |
| Collective Bargaining | The practice of organizing in order to negotiate contracts and determine fair pay, benefits, hours, and safety policies |
| Convict Leasing | A system in which the state leased prisoners to private companies or individuals, eliminating the cost of housing and feeding prisoners while making money on the prisoners' labor |
| Exoduster | A person who left the south to settle in Kansas or another western state |
| Diversify | To become more varied or diverse |
| Labor Union | an organized group of workers formed to negotiate with employers for wages, work hours, benefits, and safer working conditions |
| Mass Production | The manufacture of larger quantities of goods, usually with the help of machines |
| Redeem | To repair, restore, or win back; to compensate for the faults or bad aspects of something |
