Blacklist To put a person on a list with people viewed with suspicion or disapproval
Collective Bargaining The practice of organizing in order to negotiate contracts and determine fair pay, benefits, hours, and safety policies
Convict Leasing A system in which the state leased prisoners to private companies or individuals, eliminating the cost of housing and feeding prisoners while making money on the prisoners' labor
Exoduster A person who left the south to settle in Kansas or another western state
Diversify To become more varied or diverse
Labor Union an organized group of workers formed to negotiate with employers for wages, work hours, benefits, and safer working conditions
Mass Production The manufacture of larger quantities of goods, usually with the help of machines
Redeem To repair, restore, or win back; to compensate for the faults or bad aspects of something
