5th Chapter 14 The Civil Rights Movement and Presidency of John F. Kennedy

boycott to stop buying or using something as a form of protest
assassination murder by sudden or secret attack, often for political reasons
desegregation the ending of a policy that keeps people separate because of their gender, race, religion, or other differences
civil rights the rights of citizens to have political and social freedom and equality
segregation the separation or division of people in society based on factors such as race, sex, or religion
discrimination the unjust judgement or mistreatment of a person or people due to race, sex, religion, nationality, or other characteristic
integration the act of bringing together different or separate people or things
supreme court the highest judicial court in a country or state
protest to show dissatisfaction with policies through demonstration such as marches or boycotts
literacy the ability to read and write
passionate showing strong feelings or a strong belief
legislation a law, or a bill being considered for law by the legislature
