What role did taxes play in the American Revolution? they were upset because they were tax and there was no representation
Why did Great Britain institute these taxes? to pay off war debt (French and Indian war)
Sugar Act decreased taxes but the colonists still were made because the British enforced this tax and put 3 cent tax on coffee, indigo, and wine
Quartering Act required colonists to allow soldiers to stay in their homes (had to pay to house them)
Townshend Acts tax on imported goods led,etc.
Tea Act tax on tea and they were mad because, it allowed British East Indian tea company to monopolize the tea market in the colonies
Coercive/Intolerable Acts limited to colonists rights- shut down Boston Harbor
What ways did the Colonists protest the taxes? Boston Tea Party, boycotts
What was the Boston Tea Party in response to? Response to the Tea act, which required all colonists to purchase tea from England, which held a hefty tax
