What is stimulus diffusion? To take an idea and change it to better fit people's needs.
An example of stimulus diffusion and how is it related to ancient Egyptians? Writing, because they took the idea of cuneiform to create a writing system(hieroglyphics).
Describe the delta? The huge green place over 100 miles wide, is found at the end of the Nile River(lower Egypt). It is triangular shaped, and it provided Egyptians with fertile land.
List 5 ways the Nile was beneficial to the Egyptians? Sense of direction, Surplus of food, Fresh drinking water, Fertile land, trade and travel.
Describe Lower Egypt? Nile river ends here. Fertile and flat, the flooding here lets them have a surplus.
Describe Upper Egypt? Nile River begins. This area has canyons and cliffs.
Describe Egypt's climate? Hot and dry
What are the benefits of the desert? Protecting from neighboring attacks and helped with mummification.
What is silt? Silt is in the water and it makes the land fertile.
What does the MIneral Copper used for? tools
What is the MIneral gold used for? Jewelry
What is the MIneral limestone used for? pyramids

Describe Inundation Occurs June-September. The water and silt I soverflowed or flooded. Farmers had free time to build pyramids to please the pharoah
Describe Emergence Occurs September-February. The water and silt is completely seeped into the ground. Farmers were plowing and planting the fields to produce crops.
Describe drought Occurs February-June. The water level is low and steady. Farmers were busy harvesting crops to barter at the marketplace .
How do you fix flooding during drought and Emergence? levees to prevent flooding. They are earth walls and are found on the side of the river.
How do you fix Low water levels? Shaduf transfers water to the river bank to irrigate crops.
What is social mobility? Movement between social classes
did Egyptians have social mobility? Yes, but it was hard to move
How were social classes determined? Birth and importance of jobs
Why were social classes in the shape of a pyramid? Majority at bottom, minority at top. Most powerful positions were held by a few at the top.
What were the responsibilities of the pharoah. created laws, commander of military, collected taxes
How is the pharoah different from a king? A pharoah is believed a god.
Who were the nobles? priests, lawyers, scribes, doctors
Who is the vizier and whart are his responsibilities? The vizier is the second most powerful official and the pharoahs most trusted advisor. His responsibilities were to oversee key functions of the government including building pyramids and temples.
What were scribes exempt from? Heavy manual labor:pyramids
What was the biggest misconception about the slaves? Pyramids are often depicted as being built by slaves though there is little evidence of this.
Why were hieroglyphics created? To keep track of goods sold(trading goods) at the marketplace.
What did scribes record using hieroglyphics? The scribe were writing about things that have been bartered or stories that had important events(water cycles of the Nile).
What is the importance of the Rossetta Stone? It was important because it helped us unlock the secret of Egyptians way of life and helped us understand how to read hieroglyphics.
What is monotheism? The belief in one god
What is polytheism? The belief in many gods
What is the afterlife? life after death
What is mummification? the process of preserving the bosy.
Why did the Egyptians mummify the dead? so the soul could recognize it for the afterlife
Why were pyramids built? burial tomb for the pharaoh
Why did Egyptians bury the dead with their belongings? They believed they needed I tfor the afterlife.
Why did Egyptians stop building pyramids? It was easy to spot, therefore you can rob it. It was a great cost(expensive).
What made Hatshepsut unique? She was a female ruler and she encouraged trading with other civilazations.
What was the importance of Kiing Tut's tomb? They found found artifacts and it helped us understand and learn how the Egyptians lived.
