What was the Jewish Diaspora? The spread of the Jewish people outside of their homeland, beginning about 596 B.C.E. when the Babylonians forced the Jews to leave Jerusalem.
Why do Jews set aside a holy day each week, and what is it called? It is called the Sabbath and they set it aside for rest and prayer.
What are the Ten Commandments? They contain teachings Jews believe were handed down by God to Moses
How did Jews find ways to maintain their traditions in foreign lands? They build strong communities around the world that helped preserve their culture and religion.
Why did Jews adopt the practice of praying together in synagogues? This became one way that Jews could maintain their tradions in foreign lands, after the Diaspora.
