What is the law of the land? The constitution.
What does the constitution do? It sets up the gov, defines the gov, protects the basic rights of Americans.
what are the first 3 words of the constitution? We the People.
What is an amendment? A change or addition to the constitution.
What do we call the first 10 amendments in the constitution? The bill of rights.
What is one right or freedom from the first amendment? Freedom of: Speech, Religion, Assembly, Press, Petition of gov.
How many amendments does the constitution have? 27.
What did the declaration of independence do? cut all ties with great Britain, declared and announced independence from great Britain
What are 2 rights in the declaration of independence? Liberty, Life, and the Pursuit of happiness.
What is freedom of religion? You can practice any religion or belief you want.
What is the economic system of the US? Capitalism - market
What is the Rule of law? Where everyone must follow the laws and rules set by the government.
There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them. U.S citizens, 18+, you don't have to pay to vote, anyone can vote regardless of gender or race.
What is one responsibility that is only for United States citizens? serving on a jury and voting in elections.
Name one right only for United States citizens. Voting for federal elections, running for office.
What are two rights of everyone living in the United States? Freedom of: Religion, Speech, Assembly , Petition gov, right to bear arms, expression.
What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance? The U.S and the American flag.
What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen? give up loyalty to other countries, defend the Constitution and The laws of the United States, obey the laws of the United States, serve in the U.S. military (if needed), serve (do important work for the nation), be loyal to the United States.
