Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, set by France's National Constituent Assembly in 1789, is a human civil rights document from the French Revolution.
Estates-General the legislative body in France until 1789, representing the three estates of the realm
First Estate The First Estate was the clergy, who were people, including priests, who ran both the Catholic church and some aspects of the country.
Second Estate The Second Estate consisted of the nobility of France, including members of the royal family, except for the King.
Third Estate Third Estate (commoners). The king was not part of any estate. Representation of the Three Estates under the lordship of Jesus Christ
National Assembly the elected legislature in France during the first part of the French Revolution, 1789–91.
Tennis Court Oath the Tennis Court Oath, the National Assembly swore not to stop meeting until France had a constitution
