Anterior(ventral) Front of body
Posterior(dorsal) Back of body
Deep Away from the surface
Proximal Closer to the torso
Distal Farther away from the torso
Inferior Situation Below
Superior Situation Above
Medial Position close to the midline (middle)
Lateral Position further away from the midline ( side)
Supine Patient laying on back
Prone Patient laying on abdomen
Anatomical Position Person standing /lying straight facing front forward and palms facing up
