| Democracy | a form of government in which the people vote directly against or in favor of decisions, policies, laws, etc. |
| Stamp Act | required the colonists to pay a tax, represented by a stamp, on various forms of papers, documents, and playing cards. |
| Intolerable Acts | a series of four laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the colony of Massachusetts Bay for the Boston Tea Party. |
| Boston Tea Party | It was a protest about the tax on tea, levied without representation in the British Parliament and against the monopoly of the East India Company |
| The Colonies | insurrection carried out by 13 of Great Britain's North American colonies that began in 1775 and ended with a peace treaty in 1783. |
