Declaration of Independence The document proclaimed that the 13 original colonies of America were “free and independent states.”
Democracy Rule by People
Stamp Act A tax put on the American colonies by the British in 1765.
Intolerable Acts A series of four laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the colony of Massachusetts Bay for the Boston Tea Party.
Boston Tea Paty On the night of 16 December 1773, 340 chests of tea were destroyed in Boston Harbour.
The Colonies 13 colonies on the East Coast of the continent.
