Empresario Spanish word for "contractor" a person who puts together a business deal.

Pecan Point Loop in the Red River - start of the growing interest in Texas by U.S. settlers - refuge point to avoid the justice by outlaws.
Moses Austin An American business man that hoped to bring U.S. settlers to Spanish Texas.
Sitio a Spanish unit of measuring land - 4.428 acers.
Speculator people who buy large pieces of land and resell portions to make money.
Stephen F. Austin "The Father of Texas" - Son of Moses - carried out his father's dream and is credited with populating Texas with settlers.
