Why were camels important? They helped people travel across the Sahara Desert by being able to last several days without stopping. They could carry up to 25 gallons of water every time they drank water. They also helped establish caravan routes.
How long did the journey take to cross the Sahara desert? At least 2 months
How did West Africans use salt? Prevented food from spoiling, added flavor to food, and kept them hydrated

What was most important to the Taghaza people? Trading using the caravans
