4th Chap. 16 Abolitionist Leaders Vocabulary

TermDefinition
abolish To put an end to something.
Underground Railroad The secret network of people and safe houses that helped enslaved people escape to freedom.
route The path or course from an origin to a destination.
inhumane Cruel and heartless; without compassion or humanity.
plight An unpleasant or dangerous situation; difficult circumstances.
moral The quality of being good and ethical.
abolitionist Someone who wants to end slavery.
anti-slavery Against slavery.
century A time period of 100 years.
emancipate To set free from slavery or from other bondage.
