| Slave Trade | The capturing, transporting, selling, and buying of human beings as slaves. |
| Entrepreneurship | The activity of creating a new business. |
| Natural Resource | A naturally-made item, such as a tree, mineral, or fresh water, that people can use to help meet a need or want. |
| Technology | The use of science in industry to invent useful things or to solve problems. |
| Cotton Gin | A machine that separates cotton seeds from cotton fiber. |
| Plantation | A large farm usually in a warm climate, on which many workers, servants, or enslaved people live and work. |
| Upstream | In the opposite direction than the flow of a stream; closer to the source. |
| Inland | Surrounded by land, distant from an ocean or sea. |
| Migrate | To move from one country or place to another. |
| Manufactured Goods | Products that are created or processed in some way. |
