| Conquistadors | leaders of the Spanish military that believed in war and conquest. |
| Viceroyalty | land that is ruled by an official who was selected by the king and queen and sent to the American to set up New Spain. |
| Bison | buffalo; a main food source for native American Indians; never seen by the Spanish. |
| Shamans | Native Americans Medicine Men that were viewed as healers, physics, and leaders. |
| Alonso Alvarez de Pineda | Led on the early Spanish expeditions in the Northern part New Spain. He searched for a water route to the pacific ocean. In 1519, sailed along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. |
| Cibola | The rumored city of Gold that was thought to be located in the Arizona - New Mexico area. Many conquistadors sought is out, but it was never found. |
