| Government | A person or group of people that have power to rule an area |
| Culture | The customs, arts, social structures, and achievements of a civilization or group of people |
| Location | Locates a place on earth by finding where it is by using absolute and relative location |
| Place | Describes what a place looks like by LOOKING AT the landforms and man made buildings |
| Human Environment Interaction | Describes how humans interact with the environment -adapt -depend -modify |

| Political Map | This map shows boundaries defining countries, states, provinces and territories and the major cities that lie within |
| Latitude | distance north or south of the Equator, measured in degrees |
| Longitude | Distance east or west of the prime meridian, measured in degrees |
| Climate | The average weather conditions in an area over a long period of time |
| Push Factor | a factor that makes people leave their homes (example: not enough jobs, high crime, bad climate); a condition that "pushes" people away from their country |
| Pull Factor | a factor that makes people want to move to a new place (freedom, new job opportunities, a better life); condition that "pulls" people to a new country |
