Rule 2 Equipment: Section 1 Mat: Article 1: The wrestling mat shall be of uniform thickness not more than 4 inches thick nor less than the thickness of a mat which has the shock-absorbing qualities of at least 1-inch PVC vinyl-covered foam. All mats that are in sections shall be secured together
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 1 Mat: Article 2: The wrestling area of the mat shall be a circular area with a minimum of 28 feet in diameter. Surrounding a secured to the wrestling area of the mat shall be a safety mat area approximately 5ft wide
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 1 Mat: Article 3: The wrestling area shall be marked on the mat by painted lines, 2 inches wide, which are inbounds. At the center of the mat there may be an optional 10ft circle.
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 1 Mat: Article 4: Starting lines, 1-inch wide, shall be placed at the center of the mat. These 1-inch starting lines shall be parallel, 3ft long, and 12 inches from outside to outside. The two 3ft lines shall be connected on one end by a 1inch red line and on the other end by a 1inch green line
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 1 Mat: Article 5: The mat area includes the wrestling mat and a space of at least 10ft surrounding the mat where facilities permit, as well as the team benches and the scorer's table. The team bench in dual meets should be at least 10ft from the wrestling mat and 10ft from the scorer's table.
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 2 Team Benches: Article 1: For dual meets, all team personnel, including coaches, other than participating contestants shall be restricted to an area which is at least 10ft from the edge of the mat and the scorer's table, where facilities permit.
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 2 Team Benches: Article 2: During tournament competition, a maximum of two team personnel (coaches and/or non-participating contestants) will be permitted on chairs at the edge of the mat. It is permissible to allow coaches on the corner of the mat in a restricted zone. In tournaments where coaches are permitted on the corner of the mat, the restricted zone shall be defined by either a contrasting line marked on the mat with paint or a contrasting colored surface under the chairs.
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 3 Scorer's Table A scorer's table shall be placed at least 10ft from the edge of the mat and from the team bench areas, where facilities will permit. It will be large enough to accommodate the official timekeeper, head scorer, and visiting team scorer. When an electric scoreboard is not used, some means of visual scorekeeping shall be provided by the home management.
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 4 Scales: Article 1: Scales for weighing in contestants of all teams and all contestants shall be provided by the home management.
Rule 2 Equipment: Section 4 Scales: Article 2: The accuracy of these scales shall be certified annually, in accordance with guidelines established by the state association.
