| Reparations | Payments made by a country to others for damage caused during a war. |
| League of Nations | A group of countries that formed an alliance after World War I to promote peace and prevent future wars. |
| Treaty of Versailles | The agreement that officially ended World War I and placed blame and punishment on Germany. |
| Central Powers | The group of countries that fought against the Allied Powers during World War I, including Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire. |
| Allied Powers | The group of countries that fought against the Central Powers during World War I, including Britain, France, Russia, and later the United States. |
| Hitler | A leader in Germany who rose to power after World War I and led the country during World War II. |
| Nazi Party | A political party led by Hitler that took control of Germany after World War I, promoting ideas of German superiority. |
| Alliance | An agreement between countries to support each other, especially during times of war or conflict. |
| Inflation | A situation where prices for goods and services increase over time, reducing the purchasing power of money. |
| Economic Depression | a period when business is poor because people can’t afford to buy goods or services and many workers lose their jobs |
| Antisemitism | Prejudice or hatred against Jewish people |
| Propaganda | information that is biased or misleading in order to promote a particular cause |
| Communism | a political and economic system where all goods and property are owned by a whole society rather than by individual people, and the government controls the production of goods |
| Holocaust | the systematic murder of more than six million Jewish people under Nazi rule |
| Concentration Camp | a prison camp used to hold a large number of civilians or political prisoners |
