| Term | Definition |

| Primary Source | A firsthand account of an event created by someone who took part in or witnessed the event. This can include diaries, autobiographies, and interviews. |
| Secondary Source | A secondhand account of an event or a retelling of another person's observations written by someone who did not witness or actually participate in the events. Examples include encyclopedias, textbooks, and biographies. |
| Nomad | A person who moves from place to place to survive. |
| Migration | The movement of people from one place to another. |
| Paleolithic Age | The first period of the Stone Age, called the Old Stone Age, where people used stone to make tools and weapons. People moved frequently in order to survive. They hunted and gathered in order to get food. |
| Neolithic Age | New Stone Age, the last part of the stone age. The biggest change was the shift from the nomadic lifestyle to settled communities where people grew their own food to survive. |
| Ice Age | Any period of time during which glaciers covered a large part of the earth's surface |
| Bronze Age | The period in ancient human culture when people began to make and use bronze to make tools and weapons. |
| G.R.A.P.E.S. | The building blocks of civilization. All advanced civilizations have 6 characteristics: Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economics, and Social Structure. |
| Civilization | the stage of human social and cultural development and organization that is considered most advanced. |
| Agricultural Revolution | The shift from a nomadic, hunting and gathering lifestyle to settled farming communities. |
