| Parliment | in Great Britain, a lawmaking group made up of elected and non elected representatives who govern WITH the king or queen |
| self-government | the ability of people to rule themselves and make their own laws |
| tax | money that people pay to the government |
| delegate | a representative |
| declaration | a formal statement |
| militia | a group of armed citizens prepared for military service at any time |
| petition | a formal written request for change, signed by many people |
| policy | an official course of action |
| pamphlet | a small booklet that includes information or ideas about a single topic |
| revolution | the act of overthrowing the government with the hopes of starting a new or different one |
| republic | a government in which people elect representative to rule for them |
