| plate tectonics | the theory that the earth's surface is divided into a number of plates which float independently over a hot liquid rock, forming new land patterns and causing earthquakes |
| climate | the average weather of a place over a period of 20-30 years |
| vegetation | plant life that grows in an area |
| culture | the customs, ideas, beliefs and skills of a people |
| physical geography | the study of a land and its features |
| human geography | learning about people and their ways |
| globe | the moist accurate "picture" of the earth , it is a sphere with a map of earth printed on it |
