Who was George Marshall? He was the Army Chief of Staff who pushed for the formation of a WAAC (Women's Auxiliary Corp).
What was the WAAC? U.S army unit created during WWII to enable women to serve in noncombatant positions.
Who was A. Philip Randolph? He was the president and founder of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and the nations's most respected African American labor leader. He organized a march on Washington on July 1, 1941.
What was the Manhattan Project? It was the U.S program to develop an atomic bomb for use in WWII.
What was the Office of Price Administration (OPA)? An agency established by Congress to control inflation during WWII.
What was the War Production Board (WPB)? An agency established during WWII to coordinate the production of military supplies by U.S industries.
What is rationing? A restriction of people's right to buy unlimited amounts of particular foods and other goods, often implemented during wartime to ensure adequate supplies for the military.
Who was Dwight D. Eisenhower? He was an American General who commanded Operation Torch, an invasion of Axis-controlled North Africa. He later became the 34th president from 1953-1961.
What was D-Day? A name given to June 6th, 1944- the day on which the Allies launched an invasion of the European mainland during WWII.
