| Chief executive | allows the president to enforce laws, create policies and hire and fire officials along with appointing federal judges. |
| Head of party | The president is head of their political party. They use influence to back party candidates, raise money an appoint officials for their party |
| Director of foreign policy | The president can make treaties with other countries if approved by congress, them, and the secretary of state shape foreign policies. |
| The commander-in-chief | the president is the head of the military forces. Whilst only congress can declare war, presidents have sent troops into combat on their own before. |
| The legislative leader | Congress passes legislation, yes, but the president also has the power to sign acts of congress into law or veto any law. This veto can be overridden by a ⅔ majority vote of the house and senate. |
