Bill of Rights
| Term | Definition |

| 1st Amendment | freedom of speech, religion, and press |
| 2nd Amendment | the right to bear (own) guns |
| 3rd Amendment | soldiers can't take over private homes (no quartering) |
| 4th Amendment | must have probable cause for search; must have a search warrant from a judge; protects our privacy |
| 5th Amendment | citizens do not have to testify against themselves |
| 6th Amendment | Citizens have the right to a trial of their peers and to have an attorney (lawyer); protects the accused |
| 7th Amendment | The right to have a jury in civil cases (dispute between two persons; suing) |
| 8th Amendment | Citizens can't receive cruel and unusual punishment |
| 9th Amendment | Citizens have other rights that are not listed in the Bill of Rights. |
| 10th Amendment | Power and decisions that aren't of the Federal Government are given to states. |
