Soviet An ELECTED COUNCIL OF WORKERS, soldiers, and peasants formed during the Russian revolution and subsequent periods.
Autocracy A system of government in which SUPREME power is concentrated in the hands of ONE person, the Autocrat.
Proletariat The working class -LOWEST CLASS - especially those who lack ownership of the means of production and sell their labor for wages.
czar The title of the RULER of Russia before the Russian revolution- equivalent to a king or emperor
Romanov Czarist ROYAL FAMILY who ruled Russia for 3 centuries
Bolshevik A MEMBER of the MAJORITY faction of the Russian social democratic workers party
totalitarianism ABSOLUTE , UNLIMITED POWER by a ruler and control over every phase of life
provisional government an EMERGENCY or interim GOVERNMENT set up when a political void has been created by the collapse of a very large government
czarist RELATING TO the system of government under the rule of the TSAR (CZAR) in Russia before the Russian revolution

Red army the MILITARY force that was created by the BOLSHEVIK government after the Russian revolution

industrialization the PROCESS of transforming the ECONOMY of a nation or religion from a focus on agriculture to a reliance on MANUFACTURING
socialism a POLITICAL and ECONOMIC system in which the means of production are OWNED and controlled by the state or the community as WHOLE
communism a political and economic ideology advocating for a CLASSLESS society where resources are owned collectively and DISTRIBUTED according to need
abdication formally RELINQUISHING (giving up) one's throne or position of power
