Elements of Drama
Term | Definition |

Drama | A play for theater, radio or TV |
Stage Directions | An introduction in a play showing movement, position of an actor or effects. |
Dialogue | words or phrases actors say in a play or show. |
Monologue | a long speech by one actor in a play or movie |
Soliloquy | when an actor thinks aloud or says words to oneself regardless of who hears. |
Soliloquy | an act of speaking ones thought |
Comedy | entertainment that is based on jokes and funny sketches. |
Conflict | a serious disagreement or argument within a play. An actor is endangered or has differing desires. |
Asides | A dramatic device when the actor playing a character, speaks directly to the audience. |
Props | Objects used in a performance that isn't part of the set or worn by an actor |
Lighting | Effects in a play that can simulate drama, mood and different times of the day. |
Tragedy | Drama in a play or show that is based on human suffering. |
