| empathy | the ability to understand and share the feelings of another |
| foresight | ability to predict what will happen or will be needed in the future |
| gratitude | quality of being thankful; ready to show appreciation |
| healthcare | maintenance and improvement of physical and mental health through medical services |
| helping professions | careers that nurture the growth of problems a person has |
| humanitarian | concerned with or seeking to promote human welfare |
| longevity | long existence or service |
| needs assessment | process for determining and addressing needs |
| oath | solemn promise regarding one’s future action or behavior |
| patient centered care | care that is respectful of, and responsive to, individual patient needs |
| public health | health of the population as a whole |
| selflessness | concern more with the needs and wishes of others than with yourself |
| servant leadership | philosophy of leading others by putting the members’ needs over your own |
| simulated work environment | learning environment in which a trainee is able to practice using and operating relevant industrial equipment under realistic workplace conditions. |
