| regulation | a rule created by the government that has the same effect as a law |

| foreclosure | when banks take over property especially farms, because the owners are unable to repay loans |
| tenant farmers | a person who pays rent on a plot of land from its owner and pays for its use with a share of the crop |
| boom-and-bust cycle | a prolonged period of great profits, followed by a sharp decline |
| decline | a recession in businesses income that typically occurs when consumers are spending less |
| Hooverville | derisive name from the camps of cardboard where the homeless lived during the Great Depression, named after Herbert Hoover |

| Franklin D. Roosevelt | The 32nd president of the U.S Democrat commonly known as FDR. He was the ONLY president to serve more than 2 terms |
