Year 8 Math Numbers

Math Terminology

TermDefinition
Integers Whole numbers: positive, negative or zero.
Vector a quantity with a magnitude (length) and a direction (angle). It is visually represented with an arrow pointing in the specified direction with a length of the magnitude.
Additive inverse a number is the number with the same magnitude (or size) but is in the opposite direction on the number line
Zero pair A pair of numbers or expressions that add to zero.
Associative Law are about grouping, the order in which you add or multiply does not matter.
Commutative Law Operations are commutative if the order in which terms are given does not affect the result. a+b=b+a ab=ba
