| collective bargaining | a way for employers and employees to discuss working conditions |
| New Deal | A program created by President Roosevelt to help the American people out of the depression |
| private relief | non-government businesses helping the less fortunate |
| public work | government run programs to put Americans to work |
| fireside chat | a report from FDR giving the American people an update and hope during the Great Depression |
| sit down strike | a strike where workers sit at their work stations and refuse to work |
| infrastructure | The basic physical and organizational structure needed for the operation and transportation of a society (roads, bridges, buildings) |
