How is a Republic different from a Democracy? In a Republic the people elect representatives to represent them and create laws. In a Democracy the people vote directly on the laws
Republic a government in which citizens have the right to vote and elect officials
Legion the basic unit of the Roman army approximately 5,000 men
Veto "I forbid" A vote to stop or cancel the action of a government official or body.
How is a Republic similar to a democracy? In both, the people have the right to vote
Rule of Law The law applies to everyone regardless of economic or political status
Constitution a system of rules in which a government is organized
Forum an open area in a city filled with public buildings, temples, and markets
