Presidential Cabinet A group of chosen people to advise (give advice to) Washington on areas of government he is unfamiliar with
Hamilton’s Economic Plan Hamilton has an economic plan to pay off the national debt from the American Revolution and promote economic growth (Four Parts: Pay off national debt; Create a national bank & currency; Whiskey Tax; Protective Tariffs)
Whiskey Rebellion People were angry about Hamilton's plan to tax whiskey, so they started to protest. This rebellion is significant because Washington's response showed that the Constitution gives the government power to pass and enforce laws.
Political Parties A group of people with similar beliefs trying to elect government officials with the same beliefs and pass laws that align with those beliefs Federalists - Led by Hamilton Democratic Republicans - Led by Jefferson
Neutrality Proclamation An official statement that the US will remain neutral and will not get involved with European nations at war (Neutral - Not supporting/helping either side)
Farewell Address A letter from Washington to the American people explaining why he is leaving after two terms and giving the American people advice to avoid political parties, remain neutral, and don't have debt.
XYZ Affair Adams sent 3 diplomats to France to try to negotiate peace. The diplomats met 3 French Agents (XYZ) who kept their identities secret. The French demanded a bribe for a peace treaty and wanted a loan of $12 million. The Americans refused and were offended.
Alien Act The Alien Acts increased the time for an immigrant living in the US to become an American citizen to 14 years AND gave the president the power to deport or imprison any immigrant who he considered dangerous.
Sedition Act The Sedition Act made it a crime for anyone to write or say anything insulting/false against the government, including the president and Congress.
