Holocaust Vocab

Vocabulary words

TermDefinition
Aryan of or relating to a hypothetical ethnic type illustrated by or descended from early speakers of Indo-European languages.
Ghetto (WW ll version) Separate section of a city where members of minority groups are forced to live.
Refugee A person who flees from home or country to seek refugee elsewhere, often because of political upheaval or famine.
Genocide Deliberate and systematic killing of people who belong to a particular racial, ethnic, or cultural group.
Antisemitism Prejudice against Jews.
Torah The most sacred text of the Hebrew Bible, includes the first five books.
Bias Prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
Holocaust The systematic genocide of bout six million European Jews by the Nazis in World War II.
Mischlinge People who had two Jewish grandparents but did not practice Judaism and did not have a Jewish spouse.
Scapegoat a person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency.
