| strike | A protest, usually involving a walk-out and refusal to work until a problem is solved |
| Harry F. Byrd, Sr. | A Virginia leader who led the Massive Resistance Movement to stop desegregation |
| Massive Resistance Movement | The policy of Virginia’s government that attempted to resist desegregation of public schools. |
| "Separate but Equal" | The policy during “Jim Crow Laws” that made it legal to segregate students into different schools by stating (falsely) that the schools were equal |
