tactical change | Where immediately after a goal is shot players are allowed to make a change in their teams line up by using a team change or a substitution. hand signal rotating arms. |
What are the 3 times you can make a substitution and/or team change? | 1. At an interval 2. At an injury or blood stoppage 3. Right after a goal is scored |
What are the rules about a buzzer beater shot? | If the buzzer goes and the ball is out of the shooters hands and it goes in then the shot will count. If the shot is didn't go in but the defender moved the pole or the defender deflected it on its downward path then it will also count. |
Centre pass | Both umpires have to both raise their arm in the direction of the centre pass also say who's ball it is. If they disagree then they ask the scores or reserve umpire. Scores/players also have responsibility to correct the umpire before the ball is passes |
What has been removed from the game and what is the solution? | Toss ups have been removed now if something happens simultaneously the umpires give the ball to the team that last had possession and also where they last have it and play on. |
short passes | When the ball is passed there must be enough room on the court for an opposing player to deflect or intercept the ball as it moves to the recivers hands. |
Player safety | Now umpires are allowed to stop the game is they see that a player might be injures to the neck or head. Players with dry blood are also allowed to quickly clean up and return to playing. Teams doctors or primary care people are allowed to enter the court |
Game management | Now there are no more cautions instead there is a penalty where umpires can move the other team 5 meters closer to their goal third or in more extreme cases move them to the centre circle. |
What are the 3 types of foul play? | Unfair play Unsporting behaviour Dangerous play |
What does unfair play look like? | Delaying play or wasting time. Intentional infringing. where a player purposefully breaks any rule. Repeated infringing, where a player repetitively infringes. Intimidation, when a player with or without the ball purposefully distracts another player |
What happens when unfair play is used? | The penalty given is an advanced free pass. |
What is unsporting behaviour? | Retaliation, where a player inappropriately responds when an infringement happens. Abusive behaviour, when a player is abusive to other people in the playing enclosure. |
What happens when unsporting behaviour is used? | When unsporting behaviour occurs a penalty pass s taken where the infringement happened and the player is either given a warning or is suspended. |
What is dangerous play? | A player must not do anything that is unnecessarily forceful or careless, reckless or dangerous that could effect the safety of another player. |
What happens when dangerous play occurs? | A penalty pass is awarded to the opposing team where the infringement happened. |
What are the main components of contact? | Interference and contact are the main components |
What is interference? | Interference is where a player accidentally or purposefully gets in the way or interferes unfairly with what the other teams doing. |
What changed about doing the throw in? | Now you don't have to wait for the other players to get on the court before you throw in the ball. |
