TermDefinition
Alliance Countries that support one another during conflict
Nationalism The belief that your country is the best
Imperialism The policy of acquiring territories or controlling other countries to gain natural resources and new markets.
Militarism Competing to build the strongest military
Propaganda Persuasive messages found in posters and songs meant to encourage people to help support or hurt a cause.
Lusitania A British passenger ship, sunk in 1915 by a German U-Boat.
Zimmermann Telegram A secret message sent from Germany to Mexico and intercepted by the British.
Assassination The murder of a high-profile individual.
Reparations Money paid to cover damages caused by war
treaty An agreement between two or more countries.
neutrality Not taking either side in a conflict.
U-boat A submarine; able to stealthily dispatch battleships.
Isolationism The policy of staying out of global affairs.
