Inflation A general rise in prices
Bull market When stock prices are generally increasing
Bear market When stock prices are generally decreasing
Buying on margin Process of buying stock where the customer pays 10% and promises to pay the rest later
Installment buying Process of purchasing things where the customer pays some money then and paid the rest later
Anarchy A state of disorder and chaos due to an absence of government
Radical An extreme opinion
Quota A limit of people admitted to a country from another country or area
Fundamentalism Strict adherence to tradition
Red Scare Time in American history where citizens were scared of a communist uprising
Communist Style of government where decisions are made by a central authority and there is no private property
Renaissance A rebirth of culture
Bootlegger Someone who smuggles illegal (alcohol) substances into a country
Flapper A woman breaking from the modern stereotype
Modernism Progress; movement towards the future
Consumerism The increasing purchases of consumer goods
